WELLINGTON RACES. STAKES WON BY ERMENGAR.DE. (By Tdegraph—Press Association.) , WELLINGTON, Last Night. Glorious s/unsfliine ushered m the ! second day of the Wellington, Racing I dub summer meeting. There was an appreciable difference in the attend- | ance compared with the first day. Det spite the fact that there were some runaway victories, the sport provided was of a higfr order. The totalisator records for the Wellington meeting were smashed to pieces, the previous best being exceeded in several instances. The Wellington Stakes were iook:ed forward to as providing # a match between the two cracks, Prince Soult and Autumnus,, -neither of whom- had previously met. The Northerner could do no better than finish in fifth place, whilst Sir George Clifford's colt filled second place. The totalisator figures for the day were £35,091, against £14,217 for>s-he corresponding day last summer' meeting. Following are' the results: — Mungaroa Welter Handicap, of 100 sovs., seven furlongs.— Mr Higrhden's BBakenev, 3v.rs, 9.12 (A. Ollaver) -1; Tripoli 9.2, 2; Turnalo.3, 3..
