« _£ . A SUCCESSFUL MEETING. (By Our Special Reporter.) 'The Gladstone Exports Oub was favoured with excellent weather'" for tihe annual inee/cing, wiioh was held on Messrs J.,.and W. Strang's property, "Ulenside'j" l>esprte tb» many 1 counter attractions;, many of the athletje fra/bez-nity of MJasterton and gnu-rounding districts journeyed to the grounds, and were rewarded by ercelkujt entries in bath running and horse events. Each race -was despatched well up to time, and the various winners were frequently applauded far their efforts. The most interesting event otf the day was the Hunters' Competition, which attracted numerous entries, and the judges had a hard task in separating the prize-winners. The winner (Mr AAf Wilton's "SMria ..Maid") is a (handsome creature, and jumped iu very oleatn style. J. Lewer was the most successful runner, winning the 100 yards and maiden, and also the 440 yards handicap.-- Much credit is due to'the secretaries (Messrs A. Booth and J. Strang) whose comlbined services were appreciated, by both the public and the contestants. A llrunolieon booth was provided on the ground by Mr Sccrrar, and was well patronised.
