Mr Hopley, of the rail-way staff at iYLaunioeville, has received notice of •iiis transfer to i&asterton.- Ho will bo succeeded by Mr Phillips, of Wellington.
The death occurred in Masterton yesterday of Mr Archibald Fraser. at the ago' of .seventy-two years. The deceased had resided at Clive, Rawke's Bay. for over thirty years, and came to Masterton a. few years back. Ho had been ailing for a considerable time. He leaves a widow, five daughters and two sons. Mr J. Fsoott, M.P., is to be entertained at a social by his supporters iir Pahiatua this evening.
Mr E. C. Howard, Government veterinary Surgeon, was present at the Eketah-una Fanners' Union show yesterday.
It is officially announced that Sir Thomas Gibson-Oarmichael, former.y Governor of Victoria, who was recently raised to the Peerage, lias been appointed Governor of Bengal.
Mr F. W. Knoberstein, aged ninetyfour years, one of the oldest residents of the Feilding district; is dead, states a Press Association message received yesterday.
