The Wellington Racing Club's summer meeting opened on Saturday, {in. doubtful conditions, j Short showers fell early in the day, but the weather cleared up as the I day progressed. Tiho attendance was on the-short side. Some interesting racing was witnessed, although the fields were not large. The youngster ©vent was a gift for Styx, who had no trouble in annexing the event. The Chip produced a field of fourteen, and a capital race ensued. Undecided was a surprise packet. He came right from the hick about two furlongs from home, rest of the field were not in the hunt. The Telejgraph Handicap provided a good I »3ce, Dearest securing a win. after a good inside effort. The winner was subsequently disqualified, however, die jockey (Deeley) being unable to draw the weight. The race was given, to Nyland, .with Culprit second and Equitas third.
