Mr Jolui Primmer, of Wellington, was a visitor to yesterday. He was a guest of the Bowling Club in the afternoon, and spoke very highly of the local green.
Mr S. A. Noble-Campbell will take up the duties of observer for the Meteorological Department in Masterton on tlhe departure of the Rev. A. Hodge. Mr W. A. Veitch, M.P., of Wangannii, 'has intimated bis willingness to deliver an address .before 'the" Masterton branch of the Labour Party. It is probable that the. address wall be given at the annual Meeting, which is shortly to be held. The Rev, R, McNaughton, of Napier, who is being succeeded, by the Rev. A. Hodge, of Masterton, was rare-welled on Tuesday evening ..last. The adherents of the Church presented Mr McNaughton with an address a7id a purse of sovereigns, and similar tokens were also .given by the NoLicense Alliance, of' which the recipient was a prominent member. Among those who passed hi t'lie matriculation and -solicitors' general knowledge examination in connection with the New Zealand University was Mr E. 6. Waddinffton, son of Mr E. H. Wadding!on, of Masterton.
The death occurred on Thursday night at a private hospital at Palmerston North, of Mr Charles Jacka Tregurtha, a well-known resident of that town., who for the past eight years has been postmaster and general Storekeeper at Terrace End. The death occurred at Napier oii'i Thursday of Mr Arthur J'. Wiakefoul, son of Mr Wakeford, of Mangatain-J oka. The deceased, w.lio was recently married to a daughter of Mr John Harris, of Woodvilio, was only twenty- J seven years of age.
The death occurred on Thursday of Mr Ernest H. Maunsell, eldest son of the late Mr E. S. Maunsell, of "Waiihakeke, at the ago of forty years.

Failing health compelled him to retire from ibis position in the Western Australian service, and he drifted back to Syd-\ ney, and never having been a provident man. was compelled to seek, refuge in ifche asylum, where ho died. Ho was unmarried, and. Brad no relatives in I Australia.
