MASTERTON—THURSDAY. (Before Mr L. G. Ileicl, S.M.) At the B.M. Court yesterday morning, Mr L. G. Beid, 5.M.., gave judgment by default -for plaintiffs in the following cases:— Patrick Hamill v. Patrick Carr, jiinr., claim £8 7s 4d, costs 18s Gd ; Cement Pipe Company Ltd., v. J. W. OrMl, claim £4B 9s lOd, costs £2 14s; Patrick Hamill v. A. 11. Gillard, claim £o 8s 6d, costs £1 8s 6d. CLAIM RENT. Piripi Waaka sued Alexander Reside sour., and Alexander Reside junr., for £6O 14s, one half year's rent aliened to "be clue untler an agreement in regard to land executed in November last. Mr M. Lavery appeared for ■p-v'ii.intiff, and Mr A. R. Bunny for defendant. Plaintiff sought to prove that ly an, agreement made subject to a leise on the same date as the lease, defendants were- liable for the first 1 alf year's rent independently o? the lease. Evidence was given by the plaintiff. Legal argument ensued :f% to whether defendant, A. Reside so-t., could be held personally l : aMe en a co-itrae- purporting to be made for another. Tuki Apiti was ordered-to pay £lO 4s lid to Boyd and Cook forthwith, in default seven days' imprisonment in Wellington Gaol; warrant to btr suspended so long as defendant pays 6s per month, first payment to be miade on February Ist next. Mr J. Ooradine appeared for judgment creditor/ and Mr 0. Pragnell for debtor.
