BUSH FIRES IN SOUTHLAND
CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) IXVEECAItGILL, Last Night. The dry weather and a hot northwesterly caused bush fires in many parts of South kind, and sawmillers had an anxious time lighting the names. Several mills were only saved with difficulty. Considerable damage was done to tramways, and some timber was lost. , Mr John Hart, of Ruahine, lost 15 cattle and a horse, and a shed containing implements and grass seed, valued at .I*lso.
