L. Braithwaite left for Wellington j on bis Triumph motor cycle to make I an attempt oni the existing figures or the Wellington to. Napier record—viz. Bhrs Soman., established 'byMr H, L. Seliaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also on a Triumph. In spite or several atltempts on other makes or miachimes, this record has' stood to the credit o.f the Triumph for tha-ee vears. Mr Brathwaite left .the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's' Day, and, arrived at the Napier Post- Office at 10.57 a.m., sms time being 6brs. 38mm., l'owertng the previous record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, -the only two _sto,ps being to take ill petrol and oil. it iis only pea-feet machines made worn the finest material procurable that ran average 33} miles an hour over 230 miles of New Zealand roads. _ Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish could not h'elp but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at the niias-Ji.
