I FINDING OF COURT,OF INQUIRY : THE! CAPTAIN TO BLAME. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEtLSON, Last Night. When the inquiry into t-hte wreak of the Jane Douglas was resumed today ,the President of the Court announced that he had received a letter from Brown, a seaman, desiring itlhat certain questions be asked. Brown, in his evidence, said lie could not swear that the captain was under the influence of liquor on the alight of tthe wreck, though liquor was carried on board.
Tngrami (mate) and Young (firejiman) were called, and stated that | there were no signs of liquor on the captain, and no one on. board was under the influence of liquor. The Court found' that tlhe nigjhft was sufficiently clear for the land to /be seen, and there was no rip or ourrent to set the vessel out' of her loOurse. The spray was not sufficient to hide the rock, and, there was not sufficient wand' to put the vessel out of her course. Tlie steamer left portwell found, and everyone on . board was sober and lit for dutty. On the faqts, the Court could not asaribe tlie wreck to an inevitable accident, or a mere error of judgment. It considered Captain Vendore did not use sucSx vigilance as was reasonably exipeotled of him, but did not render himself so culpably as to /warrant the suspension of Ms certificate. He would be ordered to pay the costs of the inquiry, totalling £24 13s,
