BARTON'S CIRCUS
The favourable impres-sion created by the Barton"' Biros, management ! Borne moriitlis back, was . shown... last ! niqgjifb by* the record house which I greeted their return to Masterton. I S"ince their last visit here, the Messrs I Barton have toured Australia and se-'j cured a number or exceptionally foril- . liant performers. The public testified, their appreciation of the excelit- , ent manner in which, .they were >cat- | ered for, by frequent demonstrations J of applause. The "star" item of the programme was tllie first introduction of Messrs Mourner and Franz, two of the world's famous athletes, who were secured at great expense. Their clever turns alone were* worth the price of admission. They presented •the most skilful athletic ;und iron-jaw acts, and concluded with the great motor rear sensation. A motor car, containing six passengers, and weighing, 30cwt., was driven over the prostrate bodies by Mr Savage, of the Central Garage. Messrs TybelJ and Pedro gave an exhibition on the tieint | top, horizontal bars, and Showed both I strength. and agility. E. Gilbert gave I a three-horse riding and driving act, hand F. Barton did some clever | hare-back riding. Silver Queen, a j Hungarian ponv, went through n iiiumiber of amazing tricks, and a i monkey steeplechase was loudly applauded by those present. The AltonTVio of comedy acrobats, in their or- | igjnal Chinese burlesque, diid their , Tvork well, and Miss Mena Yal gave I a most gra-'cful exposition of steel cord walking ,-md trick cj cling. LitI fie Tom Tom, an: amusing ipony, pleased the audience with his in teJlig,ent manner, -a.nd a hoy contortionist and revolving '.ladder act were also en the bill. A feature otf .Tast niyjliit's programme was the liigjli standard of /tthe clowns. Owing to many intending patrons being titrated away, the management have decided to give a matinee performance this ' nflternoom, ffco alllow dhilclfren and country patrons to see the rihow. A very moderate charge lis to be made I for children, and a full .house is assured..
