THE VOTES POLLED SOCIALISTS HAVE A GREAT JGRITY. (Received Last Night, 11 o'clock.) BERLIN, Janraary 16. In the first ballot, the Socialist candidates polled 4,238,000 votes, the Ce.ntre Party 2,012,(000., National Liberals 1,'67i,iQ00, Redica'ls 1,556,000, and Conservatives 1,159,000, out of a total of 12,188,015.. (In regard to the above message, it may be stated that there is an immense difference in fjie yoting power of respective electorates. In. tlhe largaf centres, some of the 'constituencies contain as many .as 150,000 electors, wihile in rural constituencies many of them do not exceed I'O.OOO.)
BRITISH SHIP-BUILDING
(Received Last Night, 8.25 o'clock.) LONDON, January 15. "Lloyd's Register" states that 700 steamers totalling 1,782,1308 tons. seventy-<two sailing vessels of 20,936 tons, and fifty warships of 230.786 tons were launched in the United Kingdom during tihe year 1911.
