William Hamilton has been granted a. divorce from iiis wife, Lord Hamilton DaJzioll being cited as corespondent. Mr R. W. Carpenter, son of Mr J. Carpenter, of Mias/terton, who 'has occupied a position on the literary staff of the Auckland Star for some time past, has received the appointment of editor ox the New Zealand Graphic. llhe death occurred in Tauranga 011 Wednesday of Mr James Salmon, who arrived in New Zealand _ ttenty-six years ago, and for a long time resided atTeArolia.
Sister McCosh Smith was granted extra leave of absence by the Masterton Hospital Trustees yesterday, on •account of illness in her family. 'Mr S. R. Stead ma 11, of tlie Mangatainoka railway staff, has been transferred to Gross' Creek. Mr T. Shortt, of Cross' Creek, formerly of tlie Bahiatua staff, will take Mr Steadmian's place at Mangatainoka.
