Motor Cycle Club's sports ilield on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs again practically swept the board. Out of an entry of 12 ma-chines representing 5 makes, the Triumphs secured ten. firsts, seven seconds, and 4 thirds out of a possible eleven events'. This performance is all tlie more remarkable when it is ranefflered t!hat the Triumphs had to concede large handicaps to machines of equal power and six of the ten. first maeihine« were -ridden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30t.1i., Mr J. L. Rraithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor <^ T cle to make oai attempt on: the existing figure! Or the Wellington to Napier record—viz., Slirs 35mim., established -by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also, on a, Triumph. In. spite of several attempts on other makes of m;achimes', this record, <n'as< stood to the credit of the Triumph for thiree vears. Mir Bna : thwia.ite left the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. oil New Year's Day, and arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being Ghrs. 38min., loweri/ng the pre wins record by nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, tie only two stops being to take an petrol and oil.
