CARTERTON.

The Carterton Gun Club has decick ed to hold a live pigeoxu match on February 22nd for a stake of £SO, divided as follows: First £3o, sectond £lO, third £5. The nomination fee was fixed at 30s, and acceptance at 20s. It was decided to procure 500 birds from Christ church. It has also been resolved .to hold a day pigeon match, on February Ist for the Patron's trophy. Mr Coleman Pflrillips has donated 10s to. the funds, oi the local Brass Band.
iNurse Bindley, who has been art the staff of Dafetcni private hospital for some time, left here on Monday for Wellington, en route for England* where her people reside. The many friend® of Mr W. Moriarty, of Carterton', will hear with.' regret that he has found it necessary to enter a private hospital, being somewhat seriously ill.
Mr N. A. McKenzie, letter carrier, wifoa has been transferred, to Napier, was on Friday evening presented! Xvitih' a handsome travelling rug by the Fire Brigade, and on Saturday evening the footballers presented him i'with a useful clbck.
