Motor Cycle Club's sports held on the Hastings Racecourse on Boxing Day, the Triumphs: again practically swept the board.: Out of an -entry of 12 machines representing 5 dinerent, makes* the Triumphs secured ten firsts, seven sec-, onds, and 4 .thirds out of a possible eleven events. This performance is- all more remarkable when it is ' con&iQered! iihat the Triumph's had to concede large handicaps to.machines of equaS power and six of the ten first machines were o-idden by amateur riders. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr J. L. Braithwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make an attempt om the existing figures of the Wellington to. Napier record'— viz., Shirs 35min., established iby Mr H. L. Sehaeffer on New Year's Day,. 1909, also on a Triumph. In. spite or several attempts on other mokes', of machines', this record has stood to the credit of the Triumph, for three years. Mr -.Brathwaite left .the Wellington Posit Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, aind. arrived at the. Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., ibis, time being Qlnrs. 38min., lowering theprevious record fby nearly itwo hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from6tart to finish, the only two stops being to take ah petrol and oil. It is only perfect machines made from fhe finest material procurable that, can, average 33J miles an, hour over 230 milesi of New Zeailland roads. _ Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the finish oouTcl not : help but remark on the perfect condition of the machine at t!he finish. The Triumph is not only made for speed;. It has proved itself to be the machine for (hard work and longwear, and is perfectly adapted: to New Zealand roadis.
