PALMERSTON WOOL SALES. (By Telegraph—Special to t'he Age.) \ PALMEBSTON N,, Last Night. | Messrs Abraham and Williams' , Ltd., report as follows:—We held our usual monthly sale on Friday, 12th January, and offered a good catalogue to a fair attendance of 'buyers. Bidding for wool, skins and hides was fairly spirited, and tike prices tlrroughout were equal to late rates. We quote:—Wool: Hialfhred 9£d, Shropshire 9sd, crossbred medium 6M to B£d, dead s£d to 7id, lambs 7fd to B£d, black 6d, criitehings 4fd, hollies and pieces Aid to 6£d, locks and pieces 4d to 4£d. Skins: Crossta-ed fine 6Jd to 7d, medium od to 6£d, hiferior od to 53d, dead and damaged 4d to s|d, tombs 3Jd to 6id, hoggets 4ifcl, i-wools 4£d, merinos s|d, black od, salted pelts Is 4d to 2s 7d each, butchers' skins' crossbred 5s 6d to 7s, lambs 2s wools 2s 2d. Oalf skins: Sound calf 7Jd to ll&d per lb, .the latter equal with lib allowance to 4s cut oalf 7gd, yearlings 7d to 7,-J-d, cut yearlings, 's£d. Hides : Ox, heavy 7Jd, m(Milium cows medium 5d to 7d, light G|d to 6-Jd, cows cut .and slippy 43d to sd, hulls s§d, 'heifers and steers 6£cl, horse hides ss, 6s, .and 10s each. Tallow: Tins £24 5s per ten, rough f«t £lB 15s per ton. Horsehair: U lid to Is yd, cow hair 6d, cow fails Is 4Jcl. Our next sale will be held on the 2nd Febru.try
HOME MARKETS. The Xew Zealand Loan and .Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., 'have .received the following cablegram from their London house: — Wheat. —We have sold an Australian cargo at 37s 7-|d, c.i.f. _ The market is firm, but inactive, owing to bad weather. The Argentine outlook is uncertain. Tallow.—We quote present spot valties for the following descriptions of tallow : Good mutton, 35s per cwt.; good beef, 33s 3d; mixed, 31s 3d. The market is dull. Wheat. —Wo quote per quarter, c.i.f., New Zealand wheat, long-ber-ried. 34s 6d; short-berried, 345. Wool Sales. —We expect next wool sales will open at 'about last, sales' closing rates for merino, crossbred in sellers' fjavour, but position may be affected bv strike at Bradford.
