Mr G. Falla. stationmaster at Masterton, is at-present enjoying a holiday in Auckland, and will not return until tlie end of the month. In his absence, Mr J. H, Wilson ...ig as officer in charge. Mr Curtain, postmaster at Kim. bolton, and at one time in a similar position at Maxtinborough, Wairarapa, is at present staying at Palmerston. .
Mr R. Bur ridge, son of Mr W. Burridge, of Carterton, lhas been, advised by the New Zealand University that he has been successful in passing a further section of the law examinations, for which he recently sat. Adjutant ari#.;Mrs Hulbquist, the new officers in charge of the Masterton corps of Salvation Army, have arrived from Hastings.
Father John Denis O'Dwyer, of Leeston, died on Saturday night, after a rather Jong illness. He was born in County Kerry, Ireland, in 1847, and was educated at Black Rock College and in Paris, being ordained in the { latter place in 1871., ..He spent many; »tons.'and the diocese of Auckland;."'ani?

The Pahiatua Herald contains the following items:—Messrs W. T. Boyd and W. F. Keddell, of the Puketoi district, left for the Wairarapa yesterday afternoon. Mr Keddall has disposed of his property to Mr Sargent, formerly of the Ballance district. —Mr J. Owen, son of Mr W. Owen, .left for Misterton yesterday morning to take up employment in a motor works. Mr Owen was a member, of the Pahiatua Lodge of Foresters and the Fire Brigade. Mr Norman McKenzie, letter-carrier in Carterton for years past, has been 'transfered to Napier, and leaves for there on Monday next.
