At the Royal Economic Society's Congress a number of papers on 4© aspects of Home Rule were read. These generally demanded fiscal independence for Ireland. Lord Maodbnell, .who presided, declared that fiscal autonomy was attainable without the connoting possibility of senkms danger to Britain. Ho suggested, in order to ascertain, the Irjsh revenue, tfli-e establishment of a customs organisation at Irish ports, Britain's making good differences to which Ireland would be entitled. Under the Act the Union Irish Government should be obliged to make economics or impose additional taxation, fop Imperial object*. Ho opposed the withdrawal of the representatives •from Westminster. •
