LIFE-SAVINC CLASS
The Life-saving Class recently i'orraed in connection with the W.A.S.C. held its first meeting on Wednesday night, Wlien eight mernl»ers were present, .and apologies for jiibsence were received from six others. Mr W. O'Brien was appointed lion, instructor, and Mr James Tait lion, secretary. During the meeting it was announced that Mr A. Gillies had generously offered to provide the fee •necessary''to affiliate the class to the Wellington Centre. After the Preliminary formalities, the class set to work and Avent thi-oug-h the rescue and release land-drills under the direction of the instructor, and, judging from the interest displayed, ■there should be no difficulty in securing several bronze medallions at the cxTuuina.tion to be held near tho end of tlio season. The class is hopeful that at the swimming sports on Anniversary Day some of the memhers will m«ke_ a creditable showing in the life-saving events. ..
