On Saturday, December SOtih, Mr J. L. Braitlnvaite left; for Wellington on liis Triumph motor cycle to make am attempt omi tlie existing figures of tire Wellington, to Napier record'— viz.. Slurs 35imn., established iby Mr H. L: Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also o.n si Triumph. In, spite ol ; several attempts 011 other makes of machines, this record lias stood to the credit of the Triumph for tlvree years. Mr OBrafthwiaAte left .the Wellington Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New Year's Day, a,ml arrived at the Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., liis time being 6hrs. 38min., lWerimg the previous (record Hby nearly two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to finish, -the only two .stops being to take wi petrol and oil.
