MR WINSTON CHURCHILL'S VIEWS THE FIRST MILESTONE. (Received Last Night, 10.10 o'clock.) LONDON, January 8. Tho Right Hon. Winston Churchill, in a preface to Mr J. MacVeagh's pamphlet on Homo Rule, states in- a nut shell, —"Home Rule would strengthen Britain in tho modem world, and make us more secure from danger and stronger in the hour of need." Mr Churchill therefore anticipates a good, enduring arrangement. He instances the Governments of Germany and tho United States by subordinate Parliaments. Home Rule, he said, will draw us near to the United States, and would be the first milestone on the road to the unity of the English-speak-ing races.

SIR THOMAS ESMONDS. LESS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT HOME RULE. (Received Last Night, 10.10 o'clock.) . LONDON, January 8. Sir Thomas Esmonde, Nationalist member for Wexford, speaking at Nenagh, was less optimistic on the question of Home Rule, fearing that the Government was over-loading itself with tho franchise and other Bills. He regretted that t ! he farmers who had purchased their holdings" displayed a tendency to drop out of tho Nationalist organisation.
