(By Telegraph—Press Association.) Last Night. The National Peace Council! met today to consider the present situation regarding the threatened prosecution® under the Defence Act. After dfiscussing the matter fully, the following resolution was carried:— "That this Council mlost emphatically protests against the action oif the Government in threatening prosecutions under the Defence Act, with the. intention of intimidating boys, notwiithstcandfisng the fact, that it was clearly stated by the Acting-Minister of Defence on the floor of the House prior to the elections that no further prosecutions under the Defence Act would bfe prosecuted, and that instructions. to this effect Shave been issued in recent memorandum to the military authorities."" The Council discussed the probability of any prosecutions being instituted, and decided that in that event they : wouM at once take vigjorou® steps to organise a-ndi makeeffective tiEe opposition to the scheme throughout the Dtoxninion. . : : > /•
