IN WIDTH'S CIRCUS.

A sensational imcident happened at Wiiirth's Circus to-might, \meii a bear attacked a trainer named Syd., •Rc-fo. 'J lie trainer, viho was in the cage, cock a bear \v the foreleg arid loci I.:'m for a promenade. They were hall way round tne cage when the, hi ar lilt, suddenly v.'ith its free paw. The irnu went down with the bpar aipon him, and its teeth fixed in his arm-. Mir G. Wirth, who was near by; seized a great billet of wood, and irushed into the arena. He .struck the bear once on the head, and then lost the \uk d. McGuimis, a menagerie hand, I'ol.lbwed, armed with an iron bar, and hie. belaboured the beast. Herr Sotomld, (trainer of the. polar bears, came to the light with a heavy Ktpteh-fork. At the same time a half-caste entered the cage and; beat the beast Autn a piecfe cf piping. W!iv"b the bear „wa.s beaten, off amd kept back, tlie ti-amer was_ paiiled out and taken to the hospital, Ms wounds being lacerated arm ,and tli'fgh, and heavy scratches about the body. There was great excitement ambngsit the audience, women shrieking a.nd men shouting.
