SIX DAYS' RACE AN EXCITING FINISH. (Received Last Night, 5.5 o'clock.) SYDNEY, January 6. The six days-' cycling finished at 10 o'clock last night in the presence of a big and enthusiastic crowd. Bnrimg the concl/ndiing hours, many ibrilliant spnrt's .were maid© by the back men to make up lost ground, amd by the leaders to gain an, advantage. ' Tliis altered the positions a iu jcJ©. Entering the last lap, Lawson (America), with GouMfet (Victoria) in dose attendance, was leading, and Girenda (Tasmania) and McNiaima-ra (iSew S'ouitlh Wales) were following. With a great struggle, _ Goullet passed Lawson, and, finishing fast, won by a couple of lengths _ ahead of Gtrenda, with. McNacnara third, Lawson fourth, and Kirkham (New South. Wafes) fiifth. Ten teams find shed. Gold let and his mate (Fi-ier) won £500; Grendia, and Wafer £200; MoNiamara and Ocinry £IOO, and Lawson and Mitten £75. The fifth team won £SO. :
The total distance covered was 3085 miles. AM the competitors finished strong, little . tine worse for their'stn-enuiouis effort®.
