At the H.B. Motor Cycle Club's sports liefld on tSue Hastings _ Racecourse on Boxing Day, IheTTiiumph® again practicably swept the hoard. Out of aai entry of .12 machines representing, 5 dill®remit, makes, the Triumphsl iseoured ten. first a, seveai seconds, and 4 (thirds out of a possible eleven events. .
This all the_ more remarkable when it iis> confiiflered tllvat the Triumphs 'lrad to concecta large handicaps to machines of equal power and 'six of the, ten. first machines were ridden by amateur riders'. On Saturday, December 30th, Mr j. L. Braichwaite left for Wellington on his Triumph motor cycle to make out attempt omi the existing figures of the Wellington to Napier repordvia.. Slurs 35min., by Mr H. L. Schaeffer on New Year's Day, 1909, also ,on a Triumph. In. spite oi several attempts on other makes ot machines-, this record has stood to the credit o.f the Triumph for three Years. iMlr ißrathwiaito left the Well- - Post Office at 4.20 a.m. on New. Year's Day, a«*d arrived at ttoe Napier Post Office at 10.57 a.m., his time being 6hrs. 38min., Towering the previous, record Iby nearly .two hours. The Triumph ran perfectly from start to. finish, the only two stops being to take iiii- petrol and on. It i® on.ly perfect machines made fir-oni the finest' material procurable that can average 33J miles an, hour over 230 miles of New Zealand roads. Those who were at the Napier Post Office at the fmish: could not help but remark on the perfect condition '"f the machine at tilie fwiwh.
