In order to test the efficiency of the culture, M,r Wingate treated five separate plots of oats in a thoroughly systematic manner, and with most gratifying results. MiGeorge Dagg, of Masterton, measured the plots and carried, out the weighing of the crops after twelve days'' drying. No. 3. Treated with mixed super-, phosphate and basic slag, 1J cwt., and inoculated with uitro-bacteriiic: Yielded 2 tons L,3cwt. 2qrs. 2-1 lot.. Cost of manure, i;;s per acre. Xo. 4. Treated with 1£ cwt. basic slag, and inoculated with ni:-o-bacteriine: Yielded 'i tons lOcwt. Cost of ißiimn'e, 9s per acre. No. 5.
