Tliiere wel'6 kixteCii race meetings, a championshiip la'wtoi tennis meetting, a championshiip athletic meeting, im,niunreriVble sport's meetings, and sundry cricket matches am New Zealand yesterday. There was, in fact, a surfeit of sport, aaid everybody seemed to be concerned in making holiday in. one way or : another. Strangely enough, the' strongest telephone enquiry last night was for the resnult of a prize-fight in Australia. Which goes to show that the ruling passion is net altogether the pigskin. It is pleasing to record that the holidays this year liave passed without any serious calamiitjy.
