A COMPLAINT.
[To The Editor.] . Sir, — As the Railway Department just now are deluging the place with advertising railway' excursion fares j etc., during the Christmas holidays, I would like to give your readers --ie benefit of my own experience so far. The excursion rates commenced last Friday, l&th in&t. Last Saturday the 4.35 trairt from.. Wellington to Masterton (owing to .some delay to the down train,) left Kaitoke'2s minutes late. That was .bad enough, but to make matters stillf worse, and with no conisideratiion l for the passengers, when the train reached Cross' Creek the Department tacked on four loaded waggons, besides ever so many empties. It taxed the engine, and drivers to their utmost to pull in and out of Featherston. The train, though l running on. the flat from there, crawled into Mas-tertian at 9.35 instead of nine o'clock, otherwise 35 m'nutoK late. The 7.30 train from, Masterton left on Monday morning with eleven noaded sheep trucks all' In. front of the carriages. What the experience of those passengers would have been had the morning turned out hot and sultry,. I leave your readers, to imagine. Some individual, before the train. Itesft, did remonstrate at the office on beh&lif of those travelling, b\it r as pea- \isual, got no satisfaction. Thia is the TW>nd«nful »jßtbem of raft-way mianagemimt uriridb, aeeoiding to Melssra Miliar, McYally and Co., 'fioks. ereat'itiii."—l ■*•, •*«.,'' maaap-'mvGKs:
