"CAMPAIGN OF CALUMNY."
The Ministerial journal in Wellington, in an outburst of uuiger, declares that "The Opposition emerge from this unsparing campaign of calumny with a few seats to their credit—captured by slander,, gold and petrol." This is the pot calling the kettle black, with a vengeance. What of the lavish expenditure V of public works funds during the past few months? What of the desperate promises' of Ministers? What.of -the. "petrol" employed in the interests of «. certain Wellington' candidate whom the Ministry desired elected ? What of the base innuendo and mischievous falsehood which have been projected at Opposition candidates all along the line? "Campaign of Calumny," forsooth!
