MR A. W. HOGG.
Dai ring the political' contest wiliidh has been fought in Mastea-t-on, we have carefully refrained from personally criticising either of Ithe candidates'. We have fought the battle purely Bad simply on principle, believing that we were advocating the greatest good for the greatest number. Wlhat is our astoivishimeiit, tlieirefore, at finding Mir A. W;. Hogg, an> ex-Minfoter of the Grown, nnd a rnaai for wiioin we 'had enitertained some measure of respect, referring to the nowspajpers l of this town as> "despicable irags," "the gutter ipreiKis," and autliiors of ' 'abomiaraible fcs." Tlwis language may appeal to a certain class: of the community. It is not what we expected from Mr Hogg. Nor is it calculated to enlist either the symipaitiliy or support of the intelligent electors'. When tlie ejection is ovier, we sOnalfl probacy luavie something more to say on) this eaibject.
