KAURI COMPANY.

ENCOURAGING OUTLOOK. (Received December 8, 10.10 a.m.) MELBOURNE, December 8. At the annual meeting of the Kauri Timber Company, the annual report ■was adopted. The chairman, stated that since the close of the- financial year they had secured a fail quantity of fresh bush which would absorb some of the cash in "<hand. Referring to recent alterations in the tariff, ho said the effect would be to raise the price of butter boxes as producing better grades for butter to make a large quantity suitable only for fruit cases. If the market for this class was restricted or taxed 'heavily, the price of the better classes would have to be raised to compensate for loss in the lower grades. The outlook for the current year, ho said, was encouraging. There were good inquiries for forward business. They expected to pay the half yearly dividend in June.
