The Evening Post gives a summary of the votes cast for National Prohibition a.s follows: — For. Agst. North Islaaid ... 135,187 96,714 South Island ... 127,305 92,962: , 262;493 189,676. From the above figures it will be seen that only 8908 votes were, required to carry National Prohibition. Several other returns which have come to> hand ha\»e slightly improved bhe position of the Prohibition party. There is, however, no chance of national prohibition being carried.
