Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast:— Tho barometer lias risen everywhere, and it'lle weather quickly improved 'to-day. The winds are. principally from .the' south-Tvesib, and are 'sti'M strong to gale in .parts, but 'hiave; decreased, and the sit arm has now (passed 1 to the eastward of New Zealand. Preseai/t/indications aire for -warm and hazy weather generally, inereafiing oloudainc-s's, with more humid conditions following shortly. The wiudls "wtiKl' probably hack to northerliies, anid 'rcilwMi again., wirbh a falling barometer everywliere after about 16 hours.
