PERSIAN CRISIS
"DEATH OR INDEPENDENCE."

TEHERAN, December 4. A procession of ten thousand, with banners inscribed "Death or Independence," visited the British, French, and American Legations. Speeches were delivered appealing to tho spirit of justice and liberty. Three prominent reactionaries were assassinated on Saturday. Sijsahder's life was attempted oi' Sunday. Two thousand Russian .troops are thirty miles southward of Kesht; two hundred arrived at Ivazoin, and four 'hundred are near Teheran. Tho Russians disarmed the Persian militia at, Kesht, and occupied tho telegraph office. The late Ala-ed-Aowleh, intermediary between Russia. Britain and Persia, persuaded Persia to comply to tho first ultimatum. Tho roply to the second asks for a- renewal of the negotiations, with a view of conceding what was reasonable.
