Under the new Gaming Act, totalisator permits are withdrawn from Hunt Cffubg in the Dominion.
At the meeting of the Masterton Racing Cfluib on Saturday last, a letter was read from Mr H; E; tWankMyn, secretary of the New Zealand Racing Conference, asking what support 'wo® given by the Masterton, Rjaoing Club to hunt Clubs' ioi the district. Tflae chairman (.Mr Valance) stated tjhat a conference was to be held in. Auckland to diipciiiss. the position. It was {suggested that Racing Chibs sihouH contrdibute towards the stakes of Husnt Ohib' .meetings.- A further suggestion, had been, made that one meeting toe-held in ihe North and one in the South Island in aid. -of the Hunt Clubs. . , . '..; ■ ;' : Mr. J. WDbittaker thought it was the duty of the Racing Climbs- to do something to assist the Hunt.dubs. ' Some of their best norses. came from tihe steeplechase meetings. Other members, endorsed the opin* ion of Mi 1 Wlhittaker. ■ lib was decided that farther congideration of the ma4*er be deferred xtntil after tib» Auckland Conference.
