THE ENGLISH TEAM IN AUSTRALIA
MATCH WITH QUEENSLAND.

BRISBANE, Decernber 1. The match between the M.0.0. team and Queensland commenced in the presence of 5000 spectators. The Queensland batsmen opened splendidly, and looked like putting Tip a big total. Fennelly and Jennings made 63 before the first wicket fell, and Jennings and Hartigan brought the total to 90 before the fall of the third wicket. Both were brilliant and scored rapidly. The fifth wicket fell for 202, and the remainder added 88 runs. The bowling was not exceptionally strong, Barnes and Douglas being the best. The fielding throughout was brilliant. PLAY STOPPED BY RAIN

SYDNEY, December 1. The match between New South Wales and South Australia for the Sheffield Shield was commenced on a dead wicket,' the rain, having ceased. After arc hour's play, with N.S.W. with no wickets down for 79 (W. Bardsley 31, V. Trumper 45), heavy rain commenced, and has continued sine**.
"BARRACKING" TO BE SUPPRESSED.
SYDNEY, December 1. The Sydney 'Cricket Association has decided to adopt strong measures to suppress the barracking to which the English team has bean unpleasantly subjected on account of their slow scoring.
The Secretary of the Carlton Cricket Club has received word from the Featharstoi): Club starting that they •are unable to place a team in the field. Consequently the match, Carltoin v Smith ■ Wairarapa, will not be played to-da v.
The following will jrepresent St. Matthew's juniors against Mauriceville on the Park Oval this afternoon, commencing at 2.30 sharp:—A. Vile, F. Crosbie, H. Russell, H. Walker, H. Bragpins. T. Miller, W. Shacklelon. C. Cole. H. Lawton, W. Morris, J. Conhell.
