MB HOGG'S MOVEMENTS
Mr A. W. Hogg in compliance with urgent representations, .has decided after speaking on Monday night at Elcetahuua, to deliver an address hi the Public Halil at Mauriceville on Tuesday night. He tells us that ho regrets very much that he cannot de* vote am evening to MauriceviLlo. Westi where, he 'has many old and friends and supporters, but be trusts that as many of them as can, face the journey will'be'able to meet him in the hall near the railway station. On Wednesday night Ho 'has arranged ' to address the Masteiton public from his old vantage ground in Church Street, opposite the Dominion Hall.
MR HERBERT AT MAURICEVILLE WEST.
Mr A. H. Herbert 'addressed the electors in the Foresters' Hall, Ma.urieeville West, on. Thursday evening. Despite the weather the hall was crowded. Mr J. P. Petersen acted as Chairman, 'and in .introducing the candidate, drew attention, to the splendid fight put up by Mr Herbert. The candidate,, in rising to speak, was received with applause. At the conclusion of the address many questions were put 'and answered in the candidate's usual crisp style. A hearty vote of thanks to the speaker brought to a close one of the. finest political meetings ever .held in ' tho district. Many offers of lielp were forthcoming, and there, is every 'indication, that Mr Herbert will receive a very solid vote on election day.
MR TANNER AT MIKI MIKI.
Mr O. Wi. Tanner, Government ■supporter, addressed a meeting at Miki Miki last night. Mr E. W. Payton was in chair. Mr Tanner stated that he regretted very] much that' there were" many places in theelectorate wMch he had been unable to visit, owing to shortness' of tame. He tinm proceeded to discus's his platform, 'and stated that he 1 was a Government supporter, because the. Government represented the old Liberall Party. There were five' planks to the-platform, namely, continuance of licenses with a three-fifths majority, racing facilities, landl settlement, leasehold with option of purchase, and hanking, legislation. He particU'liarly referred to land settlemen.t, which included a. settlement of Native lands, and a. scheme to give wage earners in tlhe Domkiaon a preference at the ballot, under a system) _ of wiorbmien's. settl'emenjts. He mentioned that hanking legislation was going to he an important part of the duties of the.forthcoming Parliament, and' should receive proper attention from candidates. Tine chaimnan, in putting itJhe vote of thanks,. said that the meeting had certainly received a brisk and interesting address, and it greatlv appreciated hearing Mr Tanner ; and the vote, with ffchtot of thanks; to the chairman, .was carried with enthusiasm. ,
