AMUSEMENTS
rHOMFSON— HAVNE PICTURES
A good attendance of the public ■ witnessed the duange of programme at ■the Foresters' Haff ligust evening.- Jt was one of genuine .merit, the ■ .stair picture, "Olios m& Phyletes," being ■alone woritih the price' of admistisson. Seldom, if ever, has a film been presented .so magnificently, mounted, and the realistic fire .scene at the end caused quite a thriM». 'The drama is taken from the ©reek, and is one of great power and intensity. The above picture was supported by a host of others, and..though .not on the same lavish scale, contained plenty that amused and interested. "Pathe's Australian "Gazette" was eagerly followed, and rin. addition to other scenes there was a fine one of Lady Medallist winning the CaulfieW Cup, the 'mosquito fleet lying idle at the Wellington wharves, and the opening of the yachting season' in Sydney. The dramas were a. nice lbt, and gave much pleasure. "Hearts of the tyest" and "King of Assyria" were- exceptionally good studies. 'Through Jealous Eyes" was the tale of a unfounded jealousy, but happily the tangle was straightened out with most pleasing results.. A splendid view of the celebrajted leaning tower of Pisa was presented in a. picture,, entitle^ *fcfflfewtf 01-'Pis^^d^itt^Diinnec; one -was- shown rahhits, peld r . dans, mortfeys, bees,; peng-uins, cats and babies appreciating to, the fulO. tlie mid-day repast. ''Jinfos Joins .the Temperance Club," 'and "The, 'Subduing;«f■ twocomedies which, tickled the audience I immensely. The programme will be repeated this evening. The children's matinee will, take place on SatI urday afternoon*.
