THE PRIME MINISTER.
Fllo Prime Minister is bearing up re. markabilv well under the cimim-
stances. A week or two back he* ventured the opinion ithat the Government would be returned at the elections "stronger than ever." After visiting the North Island, he tells a Christohlurdh reporter that lie feels confident the Government will' come back after -tlie elections "as strong as> ever.'' Wihiem hie reaches Dwnedin, he w,iM (probably discover that the Government will 1 be returned "nearly as strong as before." And when' he arrives' at Awarua, and finds that has own seat is in jeopardy, Ihe will probably exclaim, "Alias! I am undone!" It is satisfactory to know that the receptions accorded Sir Jjo&- ; eph in the North Island—including ! that at tDannevirke—have all been I "ispoiitaneous." Apparently those i who received 1 official wires' and other persuasive documents were unkind enough not to respond. All, well 1 ! "It's a mad world, my masters*!"
