Bates, of the Meteorological Office this evening issued the following summary and forecast :— Showery and changeable weather has prevailed, with strong westerly winds and a .sdigjliffc fall- in the barbmeter. '"■.■'., Present indication® are for high westerly winds predominating, but variaMe at times, especially on the East Coast and in the -South Island. Changeable and showery weather expected generally, with a falling tendency everywhere.
