THE MOKAU CASE
A NEW PHASE
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Night. In an address at Fitaroylast night, Mr Okey ventilated a new phase of the Mokau land transaction. Included in the block, ho said, was 5021 acres of Grown lands, awarded to the Crown by the Native Land Court in satisfaction of a survey lien amounting to £1469. This land, he claimed, should have been offered fox public competi"tion, when it would have- realised fully ' 80s per acre,' or £fr>3l, but the* Government sold it to the company for, £1496. and on 20tih November liens ' and the land became the company's freehold under Land Transfer title.
