Further particulars to hand by mail this morning show that there were 74 business men and property-owners present, and the chair was taken, hy Mr Edgar Eton, J.P., the chairman" of the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. Over twenty apologies were received from business men unable to be present, but offering to support the> restoration of licenses. The meeting discussed the business stagnation and falling-off in trade in Masterton since* No-license came into force, and many" instances were cited of the depreciation of property value. A strong com- ; mittee was set up to secure the restoration of ih. the electorate, and the return' of the hotels in Masterton is l now considered certain.
