Mi" and Mrs C. J. Kent-Johnstoa and family left Featherston for their new home at Parnell yesterday., The promotion of the Very, Rev. Dean McKenna, of Masterton, from the fourth to the third class chaplain of the Wellington-East Coast Territorials is announced in the last Gazette. Mr and Mrs F. W. Carey leave Masterton this morning for their new home at Hawera. Their numerous friends will wish them continued prosperity.
Councillor C. C. Jackson has been elected Chairman of the Maurice ville County Council. Mr Douglas Dobson, town clerk and engineer for Westport, and formerly Borough engineer for Masterton, was on a visit to" this town-yesterday. All' Dobson lefb by the mail train for Eketahuna.
Mr T. Verity, who has been the Masterton representative of the Singer Sewing Machine Company for the past three years, has been transferred to take charge of the Feilding branch. Mr Verity left for Feilding yesterday.
The Rev. Speer, of Pahiatua, is at present a visitor to Masterton.

The Rev. C. H. OHs, of Thonndon, Wellington, and formerly of Masterton, is on a visit to tlias twon. The funeral of, the Into Miss Clarke, daughter of-Mr-and--Mrs Clarke, of Kopuaranga, took place on Saturday afternoon last. The cortege" was a large and representative one, and many beautiful wreaths were placed on the grave, including a beautiful Red Cross from the staif. and doctors of t]ie Waikato Hospital. The pall bearers were Messa's J. Donovan, J. Hope, W. iMcPJiee. and T>. Beaumont. The ceremony at the graveside was conducted by tihe Rev. H. Watson..
