NATIONAL ENDOWMENTS.
One -would think, from a perusal' of/ the* columns of the subsidised press'of| the Domdindoiv, and; of the speeches' of Govaraimeat candidates, that the Reform • Pairty is a pack of wolves, tMrsitinjg for (blood 1 , seeking whom it may devour. Among other sacred things, upon which it has designs are the mihe-.-mii'i'liion' acres' of Grown' lands . which fthle Governimient has been pleased to designate endowments. •Apart ifirom 'the fact that the Reform Party (bias no designs whatever upon tiheste endowments, .nor upont anyftfliirog /else in particular, other' than the extravagances of the Continuous Ministry, lone has- yet to foarnl that tihe national endowments, are a godBend to the country. If nine-tenths of the. Gtoveriument candidates were asked iwhy the ediuoatiom system and old age pensions, should be maintained from endowments instead of from the consolidated revenue, they would mot (be able to give a rational answer. The wncfle tiling is a makebelieve on the part of a Government which pander& to the land nationalized- at one moment and to the Kreeholden at the next. It is a farce from top to bottom. /
