In (replying to a vote of thanks acvcorded Biaan at lEketaluma, Mir Sykes. istated that everything pointed to the fact that he would be, in the second balilot. If unsuccessful', however, he pliedged himself to do his utmost to further Mr Herbert's candidature. They were determined to place' a Reform party candidate at the head of the poll, and, ihf it 'was- not liimself, then (lie hoped it would be Mr Herbert. He felt positive these sentimeuts' were (reciprocated by Mr Herbert, as they were both, out for the one object—to win the seat for the Reform Party.
