The fact is commented on that tout for sixty-five Unionists supporting Mr
Lloyd-George's amendment to Mr Ramsay Macdonald's motion in the House of Commons, urging the Government to arrange a railway conference between the railway companies and the men, the Government would have been defeated, inasmuch as the minority included seventy-one Liberals despite Mr Lloyd-George's strenuous appeal for a -unanimous response by the party.
