AN OPAKI FARMER'S DEATH.
RESULT OF INFLUENZA.
Mr John. Smith, fanner, of Opaki, •find formerly of Mataliiwi, came by a .tragic ciid on Thursday afternoon. He had recently purchased a fa(rm at Opaki, after being employed for about twenty-five) years on .the Miatatuiwi ©state. He had suffered a lot from liinfluenzaa, a.r.'l had boon depressed in .spirits for some months. On Thursday afternoon, in the absence of his Viife, (ho feft his home, aaul, as liio dlid not return towards evening, a search was made. The body of ifahe deceased was tfounul at 4.30 o'clock on Friday morning by Mr W. H. Buick, lying on. its right side, about 200 yardsi firo.ni the house. A gun was found about six yards from the body. The. police wore informed, aaid the body Mas brought to the morgue in Master ton to await 'an inquest. The deceased, who was 49 years of age, leaves a wiidow and iten children, who willl have the sympathy of a. wide oirole of friends in tthciiir sad bereavement.
