AND GOVERNMENT GRANTS.
Tlie grants made by the Govern.m«nifc were discussed at the meeting of the Maste.rt.on County Council on Wednesday afternoon.. •;,
In. connection. with, the grant of £l5O for the KiriwQrakapapa! Rioad, the engineer was instructed to prepare plans for the work.
It was decided not ,to take up the grants for the Miki Mild (£-18, £ for £) and Kakaamu £(200, £ for £) roads..
With iregarcl to the Spring Hill grant of £IOO, the County Clerk pointed out that no portion of this road am the 'Masterton County is a fegal road. It was resolved that the cleric explain the position to the department. It ,\vas decided to apply for the grant of £2OO. (£ for £) for Wainui-
omaipu, and that Cr Miller be written to and asked if the settlers' concerned were prepared to raise the required, amount. With iregard to the grant of the Ferny hw&t Deviation* (£150) it was pointed out that the amount was quite inadequate for tlie work proposed to be carried out. Discussion, in. regard to the Uriti and ißiv'o/redale grant of £101) (£ for £) was left over until Or Tbogood'si return to Al aster-ton.
It was decided that the grants for Waikaraka (£150) and Mcßae Road £110) ,be appillied for and expended. The following grants, in. the Alfredston district were accepted:— Te Hoe bridge, (£ for £), £250; Saunders' RjoaU, £300; AlfredtonAVeber (£ for £), £500; Alfredton. to Pah Valley (£ for £), £250; Barton's' Line to Alangumahoe (£ for £), £150; Hutewai £2OO and Ihuraua River JJridgo (£ for £) £l5O.
