The Carterton News-regrets to hear that Mr Bert DeLacey, well-known in Carterton, is at present an inmate of the Auckland' Hospital, where' he-' successfully -underwent an operation, for appendicitis three weeks ago;

The death is announsed of Mr Abraham Sandstein, who was very well known in ' Wellington. Deceased, who was in his 51st .year,, was born at Cforistchurch.* and only recently' ;v----turned from Australia, where he had been opal mining. The lato Mr Sandstem wa3 connected with the jeweller/ department of Messrs P. Hayman and Co., Dunedin, many-years ago. The death occurred early yesterday morning at Kopuaranga, of Miss Annie Lilian Clarke, daughter of Mr and Mrs G. H. Clarke, old and highly respected residents of Kopuaranga. The late Miss Clarke, who was 24 years of age, was exceedingly popular with all who knew her. Just a short time ago the deceased lady contracted tuberculosis while carrying out her duties as a nurse at the Waikarto Hospital, and this, together with the strenuous nature of her work,- hasten-' ed her death. Miss Clarke" was formerly a nurse for two years at the Auckland Mental HospitaJ. ~ The fttn,eral will leave the residence, Kopuaranga, on Saturday afternoon, at 2.30 o'clock, for the Masterton cemetery. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to Mr and Mi-s Clarke in their bereavement.

A quiet wedding was solemnised at "Belmor Hills," Pahiatua., on Wednesday, when Mr Duncan W. Wilton, son of Mr H. R. Wilton, of Ridge road, Pahiatua, was married to Miss Agnes M. RiddelJ, daughter of Mr Thomas Riddell, formerly of 'Masterton. The bride wore a dress of cream, trimmed with net overlaoe and hat of cream crinoline straw, trimmed with cream lace, pink moss roses, and an osprey. She carried a bouquet of ferns jind flowers. The bridesmaids • were Miss Emily Wilton, in cream lustre, with hat to match, and Miss Cissie East, who was dressed in white embroidery dress and white silk hat. Each carried shower bouquets. Mr J. M. McPhee, of Carterton, was best man. After the ceremony, which was performed by the Rev. J. C. Mill, the wedding breakfast was partaken of, when /the usual toasts were honoured and felicitous speeches made.
