Robinson, chairman of the Company, recovered £IOOO damages from Mr Louis Cohen, author of the book of "Reminiscence of Tvimherloy." and £IOO from Mr Bennett, the publisher of. the book. Tt was alleged that Sir J. B. Robinson's early career was as a fraudulent dealer, swindler and coward. Robinson gave evidence that he lost his 'hearing through exposure, on the Bnsuto battle fields, and that he had contributed £IOO,OOO to assist in the war against the Boars and £BO,OOO after the restoration of peace. He
denied Cohen's allegations. Cohen gave evidence that Robinson's reputation in South Africa was that of a liar, coward, betrayer vf women, and an illicit diamond buyer.
